The Town Administrator works in collaboration with a three-member Select Board, a seven-member Finance Committee, and the North Middlesex Regional School District. The total operating budget of Townsend is approximately $30 million.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee daily operations, coordinating between multiple municipal departments working within a fiscally responsible budget
Daily coordination among the Selectboard, community, and staff to ensure effective administration as the bridge between policy and action
Commitment to transparency, the ability to explain complex municipal issues to a diverse audience, finding creative solutions to unique challenges, while creating a trusting atmosphere
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in political science, public or business administration, or a related field
Master’s preferred
Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in municipal management or comparable executive leadership or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job
Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Official (MCPPO) Designation, or the ability to obtain such within one year of employment
