Job Description:

The town of Oak Bluffs (permanent population: 5,621, seasonal 30,000+; an active and engaged community), located on Martha’s Vineyard, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Town Administrator to serve as its Chief Administrative Officer.

Job Responsibility:

  • Serve as Chief Administrative Officer
  • Connect and communicate with Oak Bluffs’ various constituencies
  • Work under the direction of a five-member Select Board

Requirements:

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Thorough understanding of municipal finances, budgets, procurement, Massachusetts general laws, collective bargaining in Massachusetts, personnel management, and planning
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with the Select Board, community, Town committees, and staff
  • At least a bachelor’s degree, preferably in public administration
  • At least five years of prior full-time compensated executive service in public or business administration
  • Alternatively, at least two years of prior full-time, compensated executive service in public or business administration, along with a master’s degree in an appropriate discipline
  • Proven track record of establishing strong, productive working relationships with various constituencies
