The town of Oak Bluffs (permanent population: 5,621, seasonal 30,000+; an active and engaged community), located on Martha’s Vineyard, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Town Administrator to serve as its Chief Administrative Officer.
Job Responsibility:
Serve as Chief Administrative Officer
Connect and communicate with Oak Bluffs’ various constituencies
Work under the direction of a five-member Select Board
Requirements:
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Thorough understanding of municipal finances, budgets, procurement, Massachusetts general laws, collective bargaining in Massachusetts, personnel management, and planning
Ability to establish strong working relationships with the Select Board, community, Town committees, and staff
At least a bachelor’s degree, preferably in public administration
At least five years of prior full-time compensated executive service in public or business administration
Alternatively, at least two years of prior full-time, compensated executive service in public or business administration, along with a master’s degree in an appropriate discipline
Proven track record of establishing strong, productive working relationships with various constituencies
Nice to have:
Seasoned, fiscally responsible leader
Collaborative team builder capable of leading a community with an active, engaged, deliberate citizenry
