Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Tourism Information Officer is a fulltime (35 hours per week), temporary, summer season position with Tourism Prince Rupert.
Job Responsibility:
Works with the Tourism Prince Rupert Board of Directors and Staff, under the supervision of the Visitor Experience Manager, to further our mandate to promote Prince Rupert as a world-class visitor destination
Works in the Visitor Information Centre, and assists with the Container Market, and Volunteer Ambassadors to provide high-level visitor services to visitors
Conducts business outreach to ensure up-to-date visitor information and local business listings on visitprincerupert.com
Provides visitor information and supporting print materials to all visitors
Conducts merchandise sales from the visitor centre retail space
Acts as on-site representative for Tourism Prince Rupert at the Cow Bay Container Market to make note of any questions and relay them to Tourism Prince Rupert management
Supports partnerships with the Prince Rupert Cruise Port, Shore Excursion Operators, and Tour Providers to ensure visitors have access to high-quality experiences and up-to-date booking information
Supports content development work for social media and marketing campaigns, under the supervision of Tourism Prince Rupert's Marketing Manager
Distributes visitor information print materials to local establishments such as hotels, transportation providers, museums, etc, as needed
Requirements:
Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
ability to confidently answer visitor questions and tell the story of Prince Rupert
Creativity, imagination, and an entrepreneurial attitude towards tourism marketing and communications
A proactive attitude to resolve problems independently
Experience in customer service and/or tourism
Be between 15 and 30 years of age
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
