Job Description

Charlie Gilmur with Robert Half is looking for an experienced Total Rewards Director to lead and oversee compensation and benefits strategies within the higher education sector. Based in Portland, Oregon, this role requires a strategic thinker with expertise in developing equitable and comprehensive rewards programs that align with organizational goals. The ideal candidate will bring innovative approaches to enhance employee satisfaction and retention while ensuring compliance with industry standards and legal regulations.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide expert consultation to executive leadership and management teams regarding compensation and benefits programs and policies
  • Develop and manage comprehensive compensation and benefits models that promote equity, performance, and alignment with organizational objectives
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations while integrating industry best practices into rewards strategies
  • Lead the evaluation and classification of positions to ensure fair pay and job alignment, with a focus on equity
  • Prepare and present detailed forecasts, analyses, and recommendations on compensation strategies to leadership
  • Build transparency around policies and processes through effective communication and stakeholder collaboration
  • Oversee the administration of benefits programs while driving improvements to employee satisfaction and well-being
  • Address complex challenges in classification and compensation with innovative solutions
  • Collaborate with the well-being committee to design and implement initiatives that support employee health and engagement
  • Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the development of the People Strategy, Equity, and Culture division

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in human resources with a focus on compensation and benefits administration
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal labor laws and regulations
  • Proven ability to develop and implement equitable rewards programs that align with organizational goals
  • Expertise in using HRIS systems for data analysis and program management
  • Exceptional analytical skills for conducting compensation benchmarking and surveys
