Job Description

Work on precision aerospace components in a hands-on toolroom environment. Recruiting a Toolroom Engineer to support low-batch, high-precision machining operations. This role is ideal for a machinist who enjoys hands-on work, combining manual machining, deburring and fitting, rather than high-volume production work.

Job Responsibility

  • Carry out manual machining, including milling, turning, drilling and fitting
  • Perform deburring, bench work and component finishing/broaching
  • Produce precision components to tight tolerances and engineering drawings
  • Edit programmes at the machine (no offline programming required)
  • Carry out self-inspection using micrometres, verniers, gauges, etc.
  • Support apprentices and trainees where required
  • Conduct basic machine and tool maintenance

Requirements

  • Background as a Manual Machinist, Toolroom Engineer or Toolmaker
  • Confident setting and operating CNC mills and lathes
  • Strong manual machining skills
  • Experience with deburring, fitting and finishing work
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Comfortable working to tight tolerances and quality standards
