Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for a Tooling Maintenance Technician to join our team in Kinston, NC. The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility sits at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures. Our team builds critical components for the state-of-the-art Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar.
Job Responsibility:
Dismantles, moves, assembles, installs, and repairs industrial machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions
Dismantles equipment and machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools
Moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks
Assembles and installs equipment such as conveyors and tram rails using hand and power tools
Constructs foundations
aligns machines
performs scheduled inspection and maintenance
Sets up and operates machine tools and fabrication machinery to rework or make new parts
Perform root/cause analysis in support of reliability processes, and collaborate with vendors, engineering, team leader, customer, other crafts and management to solve equipment problems and develop corrective action
Rework and maintain tools of all types and materials
Perform routine minor machine maintenance as part of their daily work duties (e.g., replacing machine filters, changing standard light bulbs on machines and equipment, maintaining lubrication/coolant levels, etc. as related to basic Total Preventative Maintenance duties)
Repairing and building of lay-up tools
Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment
Uses hand and power tools
Tests, inspects, troubleshooting, and repairs machines and equipment
Uses PLC, CNC along with blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications
Move and place in correct position heavy equipment, real property and installed property in accordance with established methods
Accomplish all necessary rigging
Requirements:
Must be willing and able to work any shift
Workkeys Assessment completion OR High School Diploma/GED
5% domestic/international travel
Citizenship: Authorized to work in the USA
Physical Requirements: Onsite: 100%
Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings
Hearing: Daily able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms
Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications
Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): Able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts
Carrying: Weekly able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs
Lifting: Weekly able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs
Pushing / Pulling: Weekly able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools
Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer
Squatting / Kneeling: Weekly able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving
Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor
Travel: 5% able to travel independently and at short notice
Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces
Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
Administrative position only PPE required: Safety glasses on manufacturing floor, bump caps in designated areas, and safety-toed shoes in designated work areas
