Job Description

As a Tool Technician, you’re responsible for keeping all dies, fixtures, and tools in good working condition so production can run smoothly. You’ll handle daily maintenance and repairs, build new tooling when needed, and support production by solving tooling and machining issues quickly and accurately.

Job Responsibility

  • Build new tools, dies, fixtures, and parts using blueprints, sketches, reference parts, or instructions
  • Measure and inspect finished parts to ensure they meet specifications, using tools like calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, and dial indicators
  • Set up and operate manual and CNC equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, welders, and drill presses
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and dies to keep them production‑ready
  • Assemble, fit, modify, and repair tooling, fixtures, and dies
  • Respond to tooling issues and support production with timely, accurate solutions
  • Work directly with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve tooling problems
  • Modify tooling and weld fixtures as needed
  • Support 5S, continuous improvement (CI), and safety projects
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 18–24 months of vocational training in tool and die making preferred
  • At least 2 years of experience building tools and dies
  • Knowledge of toolmaking, machining processes, and CNC equipment
  • Ability to use and maintain machines and tools safely and effectively
  • Strong math skills and mechanical problem‑solving ability
  • Comfortable using computers for basic word processing and spreadsheets
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings
  • Good judgment, attention to detail, and clear communication skills
  • Ability to identify problems and recommend effective solutions
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for an employer in the U.S.
