Post-secondary technical training or certification preferred
At least seven years related experience with tool and die tasks
At least five years previous experience with measurement processes and equipment capabilities used in order to perform repairs and adjustments to complex die sets
At least two years previous experience with electronic drawing such as AutoCad, Pro-E or Solid Works and ability to modify existing drawings
At least two years previous experience performing heat treat processes on tool and die components
Proficiency with failure analysis, reliability studies, and performance enhancements
Ability to read and understand quality reports and testing methods

Job Responsibility

Inspects, measures, troubleshoots, and repairs complex failures associated with Tool and Die
Develops and writes concise technical documents, including set-up procedures, PM procedures, and troubleshooting procedures
Heat-treats tools or parts
Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining
Smoothes flat and contoured surfaces, using scrapers, abrasive stones, and power grinders, and fits and assembles parts together and into assemblies and mechanisms, using hand tools
Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances, using measuring instruments, such as dial indicators, gauge blocks, thickness gauges, and micrometers

Requirements

Possess a valid 430A Ticket or Inter-Provincial Tool & Die Maker Certificate
Three years of experience designing, building and maintaining dies in the automotive industry
Exhibit the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
Provide proof of experience operating overhead cranes within a shop environment

Job Responsibility

You will work 5 x 8-hour shifts per week on a rotating schedule in Stratford consisting of two weeks on days, two weeks on afternoons, and one week on nights
Design, build, and maintain stamping dies for automotive body parts
Execute MIG and TIG welding for die repair and hand finishing
Set-up and operate CNC machines on Fanuc controls
Operate overhead cranes to maneuver and position heavy tooling

Perform mold repairs, including disassembly, inspection, welding, polishing, machining, and reassembly
Manufacture new plastic molds, selecting appropriate materials & using CAM /CNC mills, lathes, grinders, & EDM machines
Conduct heat treatment for steel hardness per print requirements
Perform final assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of molds before production
Perform mold preventive maintenance fill out all check list required by Aptiv systems to ensure the quality of tool
Perform inspection reports for any new part or spare part built
Maintain a clean and organized workspace in compliance with company protocols
Follow all company safety policies and procedures and assist other processes as directed by the supervisor
