As a Tool Design Intern you will be responsible for designing tooling used across Mercury’s various manufacturing plants and processes. This position reports to the Tool Design manager, and will work closely with manufacturing engineering, machining/assembly operations, and maintenance/support services to design tooling that improves the reliability and safety of our manufacturing processes.
Job Responsibility:
Design and detail fixtures and tooling for use on manual machines, machining centers, assembly lines, paint lines, and layout operations
Review design requirements with manufacturing engineers, machine operators, and shop supervision
Communicate with outside tooling vendors
Requirements:
Pursuing an Associate Degree in Tool Design, Drafting or Mechanical Design
Proficiency in 3D modeling software (Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, etc.)
Basic use and understanding of hand tools for 3D printer maintenance
Ability to design and detail fixtures that are clear and accurate
Ability to work full time during the summer and part time during the school year, onsite
