We are currently looking a skilled and experienced Tool and Die Maker. You'll work alongside other Tool and Die Makers and engineers to support our tool and die needs, building parts, maintaining, and modifying molds using a wide variety of specialized CNC equipment and mold making processes. These include Precision surface grinding , Conventional machining , CAD/CAM modeling, programming, and set up of sinker EDM, wire EDM, multi axis milling, electrode, and other mold & die making equipment!
Job Responsibility:
Read and interpret blueprints, ,work orders, and CAD files to ensure precision manufacturing
know how use tool maker measurement equipment such as Micrometers, high gage, dial indicator, profile projector, calipers , gage blocks, etc
Perform mold repairs, including disassembly, inspection, welding, polishing, machining, and reassembly
Manufacture new plastic molds, selecting appropriate materials & using CAM /CNC mills, lathes, grinders, & EDM machines
Conduct heat treatment for steel hardness per print requirements
Perform final assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of molds before production
Perform mold preventive maintenance fill out all check list required by Aptiv systems to ensure the quality of tool
Perform inspection reports for any new part or spare part built
Maintain a clean and organized workspace in compliance with company protocols
Follow all company safety policies and procedures and assist other processes as directed by the supervisor
Build precision tool and die spare parts selecting the right material and hardness
Support safety , quality, projected requested by multifunctional teams
Assisting the manufacturing operations in problem solving and continuous process improvements: Reduced Scrap, Increase OE, Reduced Cycle Time
Perform preventive maintenance to the tool shop equipment and raise the hand for any urgent service needed for corrective maintenance
Requirements:
Ability to program CAM for CNC equipment using ‘G’ and ‘M’ code format
Ability to read prints and interpret machining requirements
Ability to maintain machining tolerances of ±.0002
Ability to square up fixturing on table to .0000 over a length of 36"
Ability to identify different shapes of truing diamonds and the working condition of the diamond
Must be able to adjust tooling and equipment to tolerance of .000 to .0000
Ability to identify, monitor and compensate for machine expansion changes
Ability to stone and hone a sharp radius on tool steel
Must be able to communicate at all levels from shop floor operator to engineer
Technical school and/or certification
Journeymen (for Master Tool & Die Roles)
Ability to weld (TIG for Master Tool & Die Roles)
Able to train entry-level Tool & Die (For Master Tool & Die Roles)
Person should have or should qualify for a five-year state indentured apprenticeship or equivalent
Person should have background in mathematics, mechanical drawing, metallurgy and machine shop practices
Lift, push, pull, and maneuver up to 50 pounds
Sit and/or stand at least 12 hours
Vision correctable to 20/30 or better
