Job Responsibility

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications of tools, dies, prototypes or models
  • Prepare templates and sketches, and determine work processes
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances and set up machine tools
  • Position, secure, measure and work metal stock or castings to lay out for machining
  • Set up, operate and maintain a variety of conventional and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools to cut, turn, mill, plane, drill, bore or grind
  • Verify machined parts for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, co-ordinate measuring machines (CMM) and electronic measuring devices
  • Fit and assemble or disassemble parts using hand tools

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a tooling Maintenance position is required
  • Ability to use hand tools and operate tool room machines
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and knowledge of GD&T
  • Ability to adapt to changes quickly in a fast-paced environment both within a team or independently

Nice to have

  • Direct experience in a welding/stamping facility is preferred
  • Certifications: Licensed Tool and Die Maker Certificate Ontario/Red Seal (430A) is preferred
