Job Responsibility
Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications of tools, dies, prototypes or models
Prepare templates and sketches, and determine work processes
Compute dimensions and tolerances and set up machine tools
Position, secure, measure and work metal stock or castings to lay out for machining
Set up, operate and maintain a variety of conventional and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools to cut, turn, mill, plane, drill, bore or grind
Verify machined parts for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, co-ordinate measuring machines (CMM) and electronic measuring devices
Fit and assemble or disassemble parts using hand tools
Requirements
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Minimum 5+ years of experience in a tooling Maintenance position is required
Ability to use hand tools and operate tool room machines
Ability to read engineering drawings and knowledge of GD&T
Ability to adapt to changes quickly in a fast-paced environment both within a team or independently
Nice to have
Direct experience in a welding/stamping facility is preferred
Certifications: Licensed Tool and Die Maker Certificate Ontario/Red Seal (430A) is preferred
