Job Description

Marine Tile Removal Operative (Trainee Marine Tile Applicator) at Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth. Initial role responsible for safe removal of marine tiles and associated materials from naval vessels and marine structures; opportunity to progress to qualified Marine Tile Applicator.

Job Responsibility

  • Remove marine tiles, insulation materials, and associated components in accordance with work instructions and safety procedures
  • Prepare surfaces for future installation and refurbishment activities
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
  • Carry out basic measurements, marking out, and material handling tasks
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the work area
  • Follow all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements
  • Work effectively as part of a team to meet project schedules and production targets
  • Participate in training and development programmes leading to qualification as a Marine Tile Applicator
  • Support installation activities as skills and experience develop

Requirements

  • Practical individuals who enjoy hands-on work and have experience in trades
  • Desirable backgrounds include: Carpentry or joinery
  • Construction or building trades
  • Shoplifting or interior fitting
  • Marine or industrial maintenance
  • General fabrication or manufacturing
  • Strong experience with the ability to use hand and power tools confidently
  • Good practical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions
  • Basic measuring and cutting skills
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial environment
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
