Job Description:

Therapeutic Learning Assistant role supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and social-emotional challenges through imaginative, therapeutic approaches at a forward-thinking, inclusive primary school in Merton.

Job Responsibility:

  • Work 1:1 and in small groups with pupils with Autism, SLCN, and emotional regulation needs
  • Use drama, music, art, or play to support therapeutic and learning goals
  • Contribute to a compassionate, inclusive learning environment
  • Collaborate closely with staff and therapists on targeted support plans
  • Support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and social-emotional challenges through imaginative, therapeutic approaches

Requirements:

  • Degree in Art, Drama, Music, Psychology, Education, or related discipline
  • Passionate about child development and creative therapeutic approaches
  • Emotionally attuned, patient, and highly engaging
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A future therapist, counsellor, SEN teacher, or wellbeing professional in the making

Nice to have:

Experience working with children or vulnerable groups is desirable

  • Act as a key worker and reliable adult, helping students navigate the school day, particularly during transitions and unstructured times, reinforcing consistent routines
