Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Themed Case Discussion (TCD) Tutor. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality medical education within the MBChB programme, supporting students' clinical reasoning, reflection, and preparation for practice. You will work as part of a dynamic and inclusive teaching team delivering small-group learning to Year 4 medical students.

Job Responsibility

  • Delivering face-to-face small-group teaching sessions based on themed case discussions each Friday morning
  • Facilitating student learning through clinical reasoning and flipped classroom approaches
  • Preparing and maintaining knowledge of teaching materials and online case content
  • Providing constructive feedback and contributing to assessment and programme evaluation
  • Supporting curriculum development, quality assurance, and collaboration within the Community Placements team

Requirements

  • Vocationally trained General Practitioner with MRCGP (post-CCT)
  • Current clinical practice with engagement in appraisal and revalidation
  • Experience in undergraduate or postgraduate medical education
  • Strong communication, organisational and team-working skills
  • Ability to facilitate small-group teaching and clinical reasoning discussions

Nice to have

  • Qualification in medical or professional education
  • Experience of small-group facilitation and providing feedback to students
  • Experience teaching clinical reasoning or supervising medical students
  • Experience in course evaluation or quality assurance processes
