Job Description:

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and flexible person to join our Theatre Reception team at Barnsley Hospital. The role of Theatre Receptionist requires good communication skills with the ability to interact professionally at all times with the multi-disciplinary teams and visitors to the department, both in person and on the telephone. The Theatre Receptionist will be an individual that communicates clearly, is willing to learn at pace and adapt the demands as required by the role and department. We are a dynamic team that work together, consistent and focus on ongoing improvement to ensure we provide a quality service to the specialties utilising Barnsley Hospital theatres in a timely manner. This is a great opportunity for development. This role is also a fantastic opportunity for apprentices who are currently studying for NVQ level 2/3. Apprentices should note that the salary would be Agenda for Change Annex 21 trainee rate (75%max of band) until they have completed their apprenticeship.

Job Responsibility:

  • To provide the first point of contact for operating theatres, presenting a professional, calm and confident manner in line with the Trust's Values and Behaviours
  • To provide a full reception service to operating theatres
  • Maintaining accurate information and patient demographics within the Trusts Bluespier theatre system

Requirements:

  • GCSE Math & English (A-C) or equivalent
  • RSA / OCR II Typing and / or word processing or equivalent
  • Clerical experience
  • Typing experience
  • Reception experience
  • Experience of dealing with the general public
  • IT Systems particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Knowledge of NHS procedures
  • Understanding of confidentiality and Data Protection Act
  • Awareness of Health and Safety requirements
  • Organisational skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to deal with complaints, both face to face and over the telephone
  • Good timekeeping
  • Good telephone manner
  • Able to work as a team member and on own initiative
  • Able to work under pressure and prioritise workload

  • Previous hospital experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of NHS procedures
