Job Description

As a Test Engineering Manager based in Penang, you will play a foundational role in building and scaling AMD’s Test Engineering capabilities for Enterprise products. You will lead teams responsible for ATE and System Level Test (SLT) test content, test program development, and release execution, while working closely with OSAT partners, manufacturing, and global PEO stakeholders. This role is critical to establishing execution discipline, technical depth, and scalable processes as the Penang team ramps to support NPI, characterization, qualification, and high‑volume production (HVM).

Job Responsibility

  • Build, lead, and scale ATE and SLT test engineering teams in Penang, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management
  • Establish local technical leadership while integrating tightly with Singapore and global Enterprise teams
  • Develop next‑level leads and domain owners to support long‑term site sustainability and succession
  • Own test content, test program development, bring‑up, and release execution across ATE and SLT
  • Ensure test solutions are ready to support NPI milestones, sample phases, and production ramps
  • Drive delivery against test time, yield, quality, and first‑time‑right KPIs
  • Define pre‑silicon test requirements and drive alignment with Design Verification, Diagnostics, Product Engineering, and Platform teams
  • Ensure clean hand‑off of requirements into post‑silicon execution
  • Lead execution of post‑silicon bring‑up plans and ensure timely release of high‑quality ATE and SLT test programs
  • Drive structured debug, correlation, and validation activities to stabilize test solutions
  • Lead SLT coverage definition, charz strategy, and test flow integration
  • Own SLT execution readiness, including OS/BIOS/Diag/FW ecosystem alignment
  • Drive issue closure and continuous improvement through failure analysis, data review, and structured RCAs
  • Act as a key interface between SLT, Product Engineering, Platform, and Diagnostics teams
  • Serve as the primary technical interface with OSAT partners for ATE and SLT execution
  • Drive OSAT enablement, trial runs, issue resolution, and readiness for volume
  • Raise execution risks early and lead escalation when cost, quality, or schedule are threatened
  • Establish and propagate Best Known Methods (BKMs) for ATE and SLT in Penang
  • Drive adoption of standard workflows, infrastructure, and automation to improve scalability
  • Leverage lessons learned to shorten learning curves and reduce re‑work as the site grows

Requirements

  • Proven people manager with experience building or scaling engineering teams, ideally in a manufacturing‑adjacent environment
  • Comfortable operating in a growth phase with evolving scope, ambiguity, and parallel execution demands
  • Strong hands‑on or leadership background in ATE test program development and release, preferably for Advantest testers
  • Practical experience driving SLT coverage, test flow integration, characterization, and production readiness
  • Solid understanding of DFT concepts and their interaction with ATE and SLT strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cross‑functional alignment across Product Engineering, Design, Platform, Quality, and Operations
  • Experience working with OSATs and manufacturing partners
  • Data‑driven mindset
  • comfortable reviewing yield, test time, and quality metrics to guide decisions
  • BS/MS Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or comparable disciplines
