BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as Test Engineer at our production plant in Viana, Portugal.
Job Responsibility:
Manufacturing Solution Management: Owns the end-to-end manufacturing solution from business case development to high-volume production. Leads the definition, procurement, installation, and qualification of equipment, ensuring adherence to specifications, timelines, and budgets. Coordinates with external suppliers from design through qualification phases. Develop and implement test procedures and protocols for new and existing products. Set up and operate test equipment and instrumentation
Manufacturing Systems Development and Specification: Designs flexible manufacturing systems to meet internal and customer requirements. Provides expert consultation to product development teams on manufacturability and assembly (DFMA) best practices. Owns the responsibility to plan and ensure component availability for equipment validation/qualification and OTS (Off Tool Samples)
Process Documentation Management: Develops and maintains comprehensive process documentation, including Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs, poke yoke, parameters sheets. Ensures documentation is accurate and compliant to support production needs. Compile test requirements from PDD and PVD into Test Requirements Document (TRD)
Engineering Qualification Activities: Leads DR (Design Review), FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) activities and documents registration, ensuring that production processes meet performance and quality standards. Ensures MSA, long term capability, R&R
Continuous Improvement and Best Practices: Identifies and implements process enhancements, analyses equipment effectiveness, and drives cost-reduction initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve test efficiency and accuracy. Implementation of new testing technologies and methodologies
Problem Solving: Supports cross-functional teams in implementing corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues. Utilizes problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, PDCA, 5Whys, Failure Tree Analysis and Fishbone Analysis to identify root causes, implement countermeasures, and ensure process sustainability
Comply with environmental, health and safety, quality and productivity standards

Requirements:
Bachelor/master’s in engineering: Electronics (preferred), Mechatronics or Automation
Minimum 5 years (preferred) as Test Engineering
Manage large-scale projects and have specialized expertise in areas such as automated testing, performance testing
Software Testing: Ensuring software applications meet specified requirements and function correctly. This includes manual testing, automated testing, and performance testing
Hardware Testing: Evaluating the functionality and reliability of hardware components and systems. This can involve stress testing, environmental testing, and compliance testing
Automotive Testing: Conducting tests on vehicle components and systems to ensure safety, performance, and compliance with industry standards
Testing Tools: Ability to use various testing equipment and software diagnostics tools. Familiarity with tools like TestStand, LabView
Programming Languages: Proficiency in languages such as Python, Java, C++ or C#
Automated Testing: Ability to design, develop, and execute automated test scripts to improve testing efficiency
Test Plans and Cases: Ability to create detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts that cover various scenarios
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of circuitry
Experience working with automotive communication protocols such as CAN and Flex-Ray
Experience using National Instruments Hardware
Reporting: Proficiency in documenting and reporting test results clearly and concisely
Data Analysis: Capability to analyze test results, identify patterns, and provide insights to improve product quality
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to diagnose issues and develop effective solutions
Knowledge in PowerBI
Minitab user
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools, a plus
Fluent in English
