Position Overview We are looking for a Test & Characterisation Engineer Intern to support the testing, experimentation, and validation of our technologies and systems. This role is ideal for someone who wants to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge optical, electrical, and sensing technologies, while also working on materials testing, application validation, and real industrial use cases. You will contribute to the generation of high-quality experimental data that supports product development, system performance improvement, and customer-facing demonstrations. You will work in a highly multidisciplinary environment, close to hardware, software, applications, and product teams.
Job Responsibility:
Design, prepare, and execute test campaigns on optical, electrical, and sensor-based systems
Support characterisation of subsystems and full systems, including performance, stability, repeatability, and robustness
Contribute to experimental work on materials, samples, and industrial use cases
Perform testing on different product configurations, components, and sensing setups
Help define test protocols, methodologies, and measurement procedures
Collect, organize, analyze, and interpret experimental data
Identify anomalies, performance limitations, and opportunities for improvement
Support benchmarking of configurations, materials, and use cases
Document test results clearly and rigorously, and communicate conclusions to the team
Contribute to the preparation of demos, internal validations, and customer-oriented testing activities
Requirements:
Student in Physics, Electronics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Materials Science, Experimental Engineering, or a related field
Strong interest in hands-on experimentation, measurement, and testing
Comfortable working in a lab and prototype environment
Curious about multidisciplinary systems combining optics, electronics, sensors, materials, and industrial applications
Rigorous and methodical in experimental work and data recording
Good analytical skills and ability to interpret results critically
Proactive, autonomous, and eager to learn
Good communication skills in English
French is a plus
Nice to have:
Experience with laboratory instruments and test benches
Familiarity with optical or electrical measurements
Exposure to sensors, signal acquisition, or instrumentation
Basic data analysis skills using Excel, Python, MATLAB, or similar tools
Interest in industrial testing, validation, or hardware development
Familiarity with materials testing or experimental protocol design is a plus
