Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Test and Trials Manager with at least 5 years of direct experience with an additional 5 years of shipyard management-type role experience. The candidate will plan, coordinate, supervise, execute and document testing for all vessel equipment and systems, including sea trials, to ensure compliance with customer, classification society and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in dock and sea trials, and shipboard operations.

Job Responsibility

  • Analyze specifications to determine testing requirements
  • Develop and support the creation of testing procedures in compliance with customer and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee and coordinate all testing and sea trials to meet customer, classification society and regulatory acceptance criteria
  • Address inquiries from customers and regulatory body agents regarding vessel testing
  • Maintain and organize testing documentation for all projects and submit standard and special status reports as required
  • Identify and address deficiencies uncovered during testing, working with engineers to implement corrective actions
  • Supervise, instruct, and evaluate foremen and/or craft workers involved in testing processes

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of direct experience with an additional 5 years of shipyard management-type role experience
  • Considerable experience in sea trials, or shipboard operations
  • Shipbuilding and previous supervisory experience are preferred
  • Strong knowledge of shipbuilding processes, shipboard operations, industry standards, and regulations
  • Proficiency in testing equipment and measuring devices, with the ability to train inspectors on proper usage
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications and develop effective inspection programs
  • Competence in documenting and sequencing testing processes
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong supervisory skills and the ability to interface effectively with customers, management, and employees
