We are seeking a Teradata Vantage Database Administrator with GCP expertise to provide end-to-end operational support for enterprise data platforms within Vodafone Business. This role focuses on database health, performance optimisation, deployment support, incident management and on-call operations in a production environment, ensuring stability, security and service continuity for critical business systems.
Job Responsibility:
Perform regular database health checks and troubleshoot issues in Teradata Vantage running on GCP production environments
Provide deployment support for new and enhanced applications, ensuring smooth and efficient releases
Monitor and troubleshoot daily and weekly database backups to ensure data integrity and recoverability
Continuously monitor and improve database performance to maintain optimal system operations
Support BSS releases and server/database patch upgrades to ensure system stability and security compliance
Manage database housekeeping activities including permanent and spool space management, table maintenance and multi-value compression
Support certificate configuration and patching activities on database servers
Manage incidents and service requests by updating Remedy tickets, ensuring SLA adherence and clear stakeholder communication
Provide on-call support for batch operations during nights and weekends to minimise downtime
Identify opportunities for performance tuning, automation and process innovation to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency
Participate in scrum ceremonies, weekly reviews and ad-hoc stakeholder meetings
Requirements:
You have more than 5 years of relevant experience as a Teradata Vantage DBA, including DevOps exposure
You possess strong technical expertise in Teradata Vantage, GCP, Unix, SQL and Control-M
You have experience working with cloud platforms and CI/CD pipelines
You demonstrate strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving capabilities
You are comfortable working in on-call support models, including night and weekend coverage
You apply ITIL practices and are familiar with automation tools and job scheduling solutions
You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
You show a high level of ownership, attention to detail and a proactive approach to continuous improvement
You are capable of mentoring colleagues and contributing positively to team capability building
