Job Description

Our client, a well‑established organization based in Amagansett, is seeking a Temporary Staff Accountant to support the accounting team during a busy period. This role is hands‑on and operational, ideal for a detail‑oriented accountant who is comfortable working in a traditional accounting environment with significant manual processes. The position will start fully in‑office, with the opportunity to move to a hybrid schedule once fully trained.

Job Responsibility

  • Process weekly payroll for approximately 55 employees
  • Utilize Certapay for payroll processing
  • Ensure accurate employee data, hours, deductions, and compliance
  • Assist with payroll-related reporting and reconciliations
  • Handle high-volume, manual / paper-based AP processing
  • Perform check runs and vendor payments
  • Code invoices accurately to the general ledger
  • Maintain organized AP files and supporting documentation
  • Communicate with vendors as needed regarding invoices and payments
  • Assist with GL coding and basic account reconciliations
  • Support month-end close tasks as needed
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate financial processing

Requirements

  • Prior experience as a Staff Accountant or strong Accounting Clerk
  • Hands-on experience with payroll processing (Certapay strongly preferred)
  • Solid Accounts Payable background, including check runs and GL coding
  • Comfortable in a manual, paper-heavy environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work fully on-site initially in Amagansett
