The Distribution Center Truck Driver ensures the efficient and timely transportation of freight to and from the barge landing sites and vendor locations. This position is responsible for all aspects of commercial driving using existing company trucks and equipment.
Job Responsibility:
Drive company semi-tractor and deliver shipping vans and flatbed trailers to and from the barge landing sites and vendor locations.
Drive box truck to make deliveries, pick up orders and purchase supplies.
Maintain shipping manifest, bills of lading for accuracy of shipments.
Operate forklift to receive and unload freight from vendor deliveries in a safe manner.
Ensure loads are secured and distributed prior to transport.
Perform pre and post trip checks on vehicles and equipment.
Report any maintenance and repair needed.
Record daily information on provided log.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Current Class A commercial driver’s license with Hazmat endorsement and airbrakes
Possess or be able to obtain a federal Transportation Worker Identification Card
Pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen
Skilled in driving commercial vehicles with trailers and flatbeds.
Knowledge of 49 CFR and 29 CFR for handling, labeling and shipping of hazardous materials.
Ability to work well with minimal supervision.
Skilled in Microsoft Office applications for the purpose of data entry, report compilation and communication
Knowledge of basic vehicle mechanics sufficient to recognize and troubleshoot vehicle maintenance concerns.
Demonstrates the ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented verbally and in writing
Has the ability to clearly communicate information and ideas both verbally and in writing
Proven ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
Ability to tell when something is wrong or likely to go wrong.
Must be able to move about freely
