Job Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team as a Temporary After School Club Assistant. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about working with children, has a strong background in childcare, and possesses the necessary skills to ensure a safe and engaging environment for our young participants.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supervision and Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children attending the After School Club
  • Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios at all times
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures
  • Conduct regular head counts and maintain accurate attendance records
  • Administer first aid as needed and maintain incident reports
  • Program Planning and Implementation: Assist in planning and organizing age-appropriate activities, games, and projects
  • Set up and prepare materials for daily activities
  • Lead and participate in group activities, encouraging children’s involvement
  • Adapt activities to meet the needs and interests of individual children
  • Incorporate educational elements into recreational activities
  • Behavior Management: Implement positive behavior management techniques
  • Establish and maintain clear rules and expectations for children
  • Address behavioral issues promptly and appropriately
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding children’s behavior
  • Promote a respectful and inclusive environment for all children
  • Snack Preparation and Food Safety: Prepare and serve nutritious snacks in accordance with food hygiene standards
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and serving of food items
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary food preparation area
  • Accommodate special dietary needs and food allergies
  • Teach and reinforce proper hand washing and food safety practices among children
  • Communication and Collaboration: Maintain open communication with parents/guardians regarding children’s experiences

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Food Hygiene
  • Pediatric First Aid certification
  • General First Aid certification
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working with children in a similar setting
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or related field preferred)
  • Clear background check and references
