This fellowship will take place on-campus in Foley Library, with a 6-week (June 22 - Aug 5) or 8-week (June 22 - Aug 21) term, dependent on the selected applicant's preference and availability. The KCTFHR Collection documents decades of community action for social justice and human rights in Kootenai Country. The collection includes boxes of text documents along with 3D objects and digital files of both text and A/V content. The collection will need inventory, assessment, organizing, processing, and describing across both physical and digital formats.
Job Responsibility:
Inventory of materials
Assess for relevance, gaps, context, retention, etc.
Organize both physical and digital assets
Describe in DACS and EAD compliant formats
Preserve, including consideration of best preservation methods for digital files
Suggest protocols and limitations for access to any materials in collection which may need restriction and work with library colleagues for enhancing access to materials for broad dissemination
Network Development Outreach for connection, information-sharing, and support to other archives with similar collection types
Connection with KCTFHR and Gonzaga University members for donor relations and continuity of context and information
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree
<1 year of related experience
2nd year graduate student, or higher, in a Master’s Degree with archival training, from an ALA accredited program (recent graduates also eligible)
Willingness to step into a role and create structure, pace, and goals
Confidence to outreach for guidance, research on best practices and approaches, and relationship
Ability to work with materials that depict hate propaganda, use of self-care in dealing with said materials is encouraged
Ability to communicate effectively in multiple formats
Strong research skills
Demonstrated commitment to equity, justice, inclusion, and representation for all people
In-Office Presence - Ability to work on-site in typical office setting and participate in in-person meetings with colleagues: 5 days/week
Standing/Sitting - Ability to remain in a stationary position for a prolonged period: Daily (>75% of time)
