Job Description

We are looking for an organized and customer-focused Teller to join our team in Monterey, California. This Contract to permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to grow within the banking industry while delivering exceptional service to clients. The ideal candidate will handle a variety of financial transactions and ensure smooth day-to-day operations in a retail banking environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Process customer and business deposits, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate while issuing receipts
  • Handle withdrawals, check cashing, and cash advances within authorized limits, referring complex cases to a supervisor as needed
  • Operate computer systems to manage account activities, resolve inquiries, and determine balances efficiently
  • Assist with night depository services, including logging bags, processing deposits, issuing receipts, and handling change orders
  • Monitor accounts for memos or holds and take necessary actions before completing transactions
  • Accept loan or installment payments, maintain accurate records, and forward payments for processing
  • Balance the cash drawer daily, verify amounts for the vault, and manage the daily cash supply
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing concerns within your authority and escalating unresolved issues appropriately
  • Travel between branches to provide coverage for absent tellers when required
  • Support vault operations by assisting in opening, closing, and balancing currency and coin counts

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in cash handling or retail banking
  • Familiarity with bank operations and financial transaction processes
  • Proficiency in using computer systems for account management and problem resolution
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to deliver outstanding customer service
  • Ability to travel to other branch locations as needed
  • Commitment to ethical practices and adherence to organizational policies
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and occupational health standards
