Law degree and current qualification to practice in Australia or New Zealand
8+ years PQE with experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts, particularly IP, data, SaaS, technology, and distribution agreements
Expertise in commercial law, IP, data/privacy protection, consumer law, and competition law
Proven ability to operate as a trusted business partner, solutions-oriented and enabling outcomes
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with confidence to influence across functions and seniority levels

Job Responsibility

Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts with emphasis on technology, IP, data, SaaS, and distribution agreements
Align contracts with company policy, legal requirements, and market standards
Identify and mitigate contractual and IP/data risks early in the project lifecycle
Support complex negotiations and disputes with a pragmatic, commercially minded approach
Advise on M&A, product launches, international expansion, and capital raising
Provide practical guidance on commercial law, IP, data/privacy protection, consumer law, and competition law
Enable innovation by embedding legal risk awareness into technology and product development
Build strong partnerships with internal teams to align legal support with strategic goals
Provide guidance on fintech and tech-related regulations, including financial services licensing, payments, AML/CTF, IP, privacy, and consumer protection
Keep abreast of global legal and regulatory changes impacting technology, IP, and data
