Job Description

Wells Fargo is seeking a Technology Director – Technology Resiliency to lead and scale enterprise resiliency capabilities across critical platforms, applications, and infrastructure. This role is responsible for setting the strategic direction, operating model, and execution of enterprise technology resiliency, ensuring alignment with business priorities, regulatory expectations, and long-term technology strategy. The leader will oversee teams of engineering managers and senior engineers while driving consistent, scalable resiliency practices across the enterprise. The Technology Director will operate at the intersection of engineering, architecture, risk, and business leadership, ensuring that critical services are resilient by design and capable of operating through severe but plausible disruptions.

Job Responsibility

  • Define and drive the enterprise technology resiliency strategy, aligned to business priorities, regulatory expectations, and enterprise technology roadmaps
  • Translate strategy into multi-year roadmaps, execution plans, and measurable outcomes
  • Ensure consistent delivery of strategic commitments aligned to enterprise objectives
  • Build alignment and support across senior technology and business leadership
  • Provide oversight and accountability for resiliency, availability, scalability, and recoverability of critical technology services
  • Establish and enforce enterprise resiliency standards, design patterns, and engineering practices
  • Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, including: Fault-tolerant and highly available architectures, Automation-first recovery, AI and Agentic adoption for technology operation, Observability and service-level objectives, Chaos engineering and resilience testing
  • Set and enforce risk management frameworks and resiliency guidelines in partnership with Risk, Compliance, and Audit
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory expectations related to technology and operational resilience
  • Represent technology resiliency in regulatory engagements, audits, and industry forums
  • Drive remediation of material resiliency risks across the technology landscape
  • Oversee identification and management of Important Business Services and supporting technology

Requirements

  • 10+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience
  • 10+ years of experience in technology engineering, architecture, or platform leadership
  • 4+ years of experience leading managers and multiple engineering teams
  • 10+ years’ experience delivering enterprise-scale technology strategy and execution
  • 10+ years’ experience in high availability, distributed systems, and cloud/hybrid environments
  • 10+ years of proven success in operating within regulated environments and managing technology risk
  • 10+ years’ experience influencing and aligning senior leaders across complex organizations
