Join us as a Technology and Commercial Lawyer- AVP within the Commercial, Innovation and Technology Legal team at Barclays, where you will support legal work at the intersection of law, technology, and regulation. You will advise on a range of commercial and technology agreements while partnering closely with senior lawyers and business stakeholders across global teams. Job Responsibility:
Development and implementation of best practice legal strategies for risk management and compliance
Legal advice and support to the business on CIT Areas, including regulatory advice and advocacy, innovation and technology strategy, and contract drafting, review and negotiation
Representation of the bank in legal proceedings related to CIT Areas, such as litigation, arbitration, and regulatory investigations
Creation and review of legal documents including agreements and licenses for commercial services, technology, software, data, real estate, and sponsorship and other legal documents to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Legal research and analysis to stay up to date on changes in laws and regulations that may impact the bank across the CIT Areas
Developing and delivering training programmes to educate employees on legal and regulatory requirements related to the CIT Areas
Pro-active identification, communication, and provision of legal advice on applicable laws, rules and regulations (LRRs)
Requirements:
Juris Doctor degree and admission to practice law (NY admission a plus, but not required)
Partner with senior legal colleagues to provide clear and practical legal advice to business stakeholders
Interest in technology and ability to quickly learn new regulatory and business environments
Analytical and critical thinking skills
Ability to assess legal risk and provide clear, pragmatic advice
Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional stakeholders
Collaborative, proactive mindset with strong organizational skills
