The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world. Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history. Purpose of the Role: The Laboratory Technician is responsible for conducting various laboratory tests on construction materials, ensuring they meet specified standards and contribute to the overall success and safety of the Snowy 2.0 Project.
Job Responsibility:
Conduct laboratory tests on construction materials, including soil, concrete, shotcrete and rock, in accordance with project specifications and standards as well as NATA requirements
Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results
Operate and maintain laboratory testing equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality
Accurately record and report test results, maintaining comprehensive documentation of laboratory activities
Adhere to and promote laboratory safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment
Identify and address challenges related to laboratory testing, providing effective solutions
Effectively communicate test results and findings to project teams, engineers and other stakeholders
Collaborate with construction crews, project managers, and other laboratory technicians to ensure seamless integration of testing processes
Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in laboratory testing procedures
Requirements:
Associate degree or equivalent certification in Laboratory Technology, Civil Engineering or a related field
Proven experience in a laboratory or construction materials testing role
Familiarity with relevant laboratory equipment and testing methods
C Class Driver's Licence
White Card
Minimum 2 years' experience in a laboratory role within the construction industry, preferably in tunnelling projects
Proficiency in conducting tests on construction materials such as soil, concrete, shotcrete and rock
Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols
Expertise in conducting various laboratory tests on construction materials, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results
Familiarity with and ability to operate laboratory testing equipment
Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and NATA requirements related to laboratory testing, reporting and documentation
