Amentum is seeking technical writer with related education and/or experience to support Naval projects at Dahlgren, VA. You will be part of our growing systems & software engineering team and contribute to our diverse skillsets across multiple prime contracts in support of our Centers of Excellence. The work location for this position is on-site in Dahlgren, Virginia where we have provided support to the customer for over 50 years! Position contingent on contract award which is expected in 2026.
Job Responsibility:
Gather, analyze, and compose technical information into clear, readable documents
Compose technical documents including user's manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports
Edit functional descriptions, system specifications, user's manuals, special reports, or other customer deliverables
Conduct research while ensuring the use of proper technical terminology
Gather, analyze and compose meeting minutes and action items
Support Naval projects
Contribute to diverse skillsets across multiple prime contracts
Solve complex Digital Engineering challenges
Apply skills to the latest DoD weapons and sensor systems, modernizing the Navy and contributing to mission success
Interact directly with customers and engineering personnel
Requirements:
Three (3) years of experience which includes gathering, analyzing, and composing technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and nontechnical personnel
Experience composing technical documents including user's manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports in accordance with technical documentation guidelines and standards
Experience editing functional descriptions, system specifications, user's manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documents ensuring grammatical correctness
Experience conducting research while ensuring the use of proper technical terminology
Experience gathering, analyzing and composing meeting minutes and action items
Working knowledge of classified and unclassified military standards and specifications
Experience in classified document marking, handling, and tracking
Experience with documentation and data formatting tools such as Microsoft Office
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance
US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance
Candidates must maintain a valid Real ID driver’s license required for access to customer site
Must have access to reliable transportation (rideshare options such as Uber, Lyft etc. are not permitted)
This position requires occasional travel between local worksites during the week
