Job Description

We're looking for a technical writer who is passionate about helping customers get the most out of our products. Our documentation philosophy is simple: reduce friction in the UI first, and when you can't reduce it any more, write content that gets users back on track as fast as possible. We also believe that documentation is a team sport where everyone has a role to play. You'll be creating documentation for a technically sophisticated security platform. This means working with complex systems, offensive security concepts, and enterprise deployment scenarios—then making them accessible to practitioners who need answers quickly. This isn't about maintaining a wiki or transcribing engineering notes. You'll be working directly with design, product, and engineering teams to test features, influence UI decisions, and build documentation systems that scale. You'll own content strategy across your domain and help establish how we document at XBOW.

Job Responsibility

  • Collaborate with product managers to define content strategy for new releases as they move from private preview to full release
  • Suggest changes to UI text that improve the user experience and reduce the need to 'document the UI'
  • Provide feedback on new features by testing them hands-on and helping engineering teams find edge cases and bugs before they ship to customers
  • Plan content based on user needs by working with customer success and go-to-market teams to identify what information different personas need to complete their job and how best to provide it
  • Create technical documentation including API docs, integration guides, tutorials, troubleshooting guides, and reference materials
  • Build content systems that scale through templates, style guides, and docs-as-code workflows
  • Test and validate what you document by running code examples, calling APIs, and reproducing scenarios yourself
  • Gather and act on feedback from usage analytics, support tickets, and conversations with customers
  • You'll work with people across all disciplines at XBOW to understand our products, our users, and their different use cases

Requirements

  • Written technical documentation for developer, security, or enterprise admin audiences such as API docs, integration guides, or technical reference materials
  • Documented complex technical concepts for multiple skill levels, from beginners to experts
  • Worked with docs-as-code workflows using Git, markup languages, pull requests, and documentation tooling
  • Tested and used the products you documented - you don't just write about features, you understand them through hands-on experience
  • Collaborated with engineering teams in fast-moving environments where you need to find a balance between content scope and shipping deadlines

Nice to have

  • You're intellectually curious
  • You're self-directed
  • You communicate with precision
  • You're comfortable with ambiguity and ready to evolve with the role
  • You understand when to use AI tools

What we offer

  • Competitive salary, clear performance-based incentives, and equity package, making you an integral part of XBOW’s growth story
  • Significant opportunities to progress within the sales organization and shape your career trajectory as we scale
  • Meaningful Work: You’ll directly impact XBOW’s mission to revolutionize cybersecurity and protect organizations worldwide

Requirements
  • 3+ years writing technical documentation in a fast-paced, agile software environment
  • Impeccable writing and an keen eye for detail - you make complex topics simple and you don't let errors through
  • Driven and genuinely curious. You explore tools independently, experiment to understand how they work, and chase down the why. You can read and reason about code - not a developer, but completely at home in technical conversations
  • Comfort working alongside engineers in a developer-first product culture - you understand how they think, speak, and work
  • Independent and self-driving. You initiate change rather than wait for it, you take ownership, and you raise the bar for the people around you
Job Responsibility
Job Responsibility
  • Own areas end to end. You take a product surface - OpenTelemetry, RUM, a query language - and own its docs and their structure: landing pages, tiles, wizards, navigation. Not just published, but accurate, current, trusted, and held to a measurable bar through review and automated eval suites
  • Turn complexity into clarity, in every medium. You distill dense, jargon-heavy material into content users follow on the first read, edit until nothing is wasted, reach for diagrams, screenshots, or GIFs when words can't, and shape in-product UI copy so the whole experience reads as one coherent voice
  • Work docs-as-code, with AI as a force multiplier. You write in Markdown, live in Git (branches, PRs, reviews), and ship to a static site. You build and use custom AI tooling - skills, doc-generation from PRs, evals, linting - and help shape the workflows and infrastructure behind it
  • Make docs readable by machines, too. Our content feeds LLMs and AI assistants as much as humans. You'll help drive our LLM-readiness work - llms.txt, the docs MCP server, and structuring content so AI tools consume it accurately. It's a genuine differentiator of this role
  • Go to the source and close the loop. You read specs, proto definitions, and code to verify what's true and use the product yourself rather than trusting secondhand summaries. You turn support tickets and customer-success conversations into improvements, and partner with engineers, PMs, and writers across teams and cultures to keep docs aligned with what's shipping
