Job Description

As a Technical Waste Assessor at FCC Environment, you will play a key role in the classification and assessment of wastes across our UK facilities, ensuring full compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and landfill tax regulations.

Job Responsibility

  • Classifying and assessing waste streams across FCC facilities
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and landfill tax regulations
  • Reviewing sampling data and analytical results, taking action where required
  • Producing waste summaries and sampling plans in line with legislation
  • Supporting landfill tax processes, including Qualifying Fines
  • Conducting environmental and landfill tax audits and preparing reports
  • Supporting compliance activities across the wider team
  • Monitoring regulatory changes and supporting implementation
  • Liaising with site teams, customers, and regulators
  • Supporting continuous improvement of procedures and processes

Requirements

  • Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject with experience in the waste management industry
  • Strong understanding of waste classification and hazardous waste assessment
  • Knowledge of landfill tax regulations and environmental legislation
  • Understanding of soils chemistry
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills
  • Confident working with data and compliance systems
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage workload and communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • A methodical, detail-focused approach to work
