The Technical Underwriting Director is responsible for the regional governance and technical integrity of all General Insurance products. The core of the role involves setting underwriting guidelines, managing the referral process for complex risks, and ensuring that all local underwriting authorities are aligned with global risk appetite. You will oversee policy wording development to mitigate 'silent' coverages and work closely with the Reinsurance team to ensure outward treaty protections are optimized for the current portfolio mix. The role reports to the Chief Underwriting Officer and leads a team of technical specialists and line-of-business heads. The team acts as the central point of technical authority, providing expert guidance on large-loss analysis and portfolio steering. The environment is one of professional rigor and collaboration, where the technical team works in tandem with Actuarial and Claims departments to monitor loss-ratio trends and implement necessary pricing or coverage adjustments.

Requirements:
Minimum 15 years in General Insurance, with a significant portion spent in technical or regional head-of-line roles
Extensive expertise across multiple P&C classes, including a deep understanding of multi-national programs and complex casualty wordings
Proven experience in managing underwriting audits, delegated authorities, and compliance with insurance regulations
ACII or FCII qualification is highly preferred, along with a demonstrated ability to interpret actuarial data for technical decision-making
