Technical Support Engineer - L3 Network Management and WAN Automation. This role has been designed as ‘Hybrid’ with an expectation that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver high-quality technical assistance for: Cloud-native network automation solutions, primarily Paragon Automation Suite – including Paragon Planner, Pathfinder, Insights, and Active Assurance
On-prem automation products such as NorthStar Planner and NorthStar Controller
Secondary support for NMS products such as JUNOS Space Platform and Apps and Security Director Cloud
Provide hardware and software technical support, including configuration assistance and troubleshooting of devices and peripheral networking equipment
Document and reproduce customer-related networking problems and work closely with product engineering teams for timely resolution
Act as a customer advocate—ensuring timely resolution of issues, problem reproduction, escalation, and documentation feedback
Develop and contribute to internal knowledge base articles
Troubleshoot and debug complex, multi-vendor networks using varied protocols and media
Mentor newly hired support engineers and peers in technical domains
Requirements:
Working knowledge of network and service management concepts, networking protocols (L2–L7), high availability, Virtualisation, Kubernetes, Docker/Containers, and scripting
Hands-on experience with Microservices-based applications and Linux system-level troubleshooting
Experience with scripting languages such as Shell, Python, and Ansible
Experience in large-scale software deployments, configuration (via config files or scripts), and advanced debugging
Extensive understanding of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, MPLS, QoS, Traffic Engineering, IGP, BGP, MPLS, IS-IS, OSPF, RSVP, LDP, IPv6, and other IP-related protocols
Strong design experience and planning capabilities in service provider environments
Hands-on experience with Linux servers and network services (e.g., DHCP, SNMP, FTP, TFTP, DNS, NTP)
Familiarity with Juniper Paragon Automation SDN Controller or equivalent SDN solutions from other vendors
Deep understanding of Container-based Microservice Architectures, Kubernetes, and OpenShift
Proven knowledge of Network Automation, including REST APIs, XML, YAML, JINJA, YANG, and Ansible
Experience in writing basic scripts using a programming language (preferably Python) for tasks such as log parsing, sending API requests, and automation
Strong consultancy, interpersonal, planning, and communication skills
A mature “customer-first” attitude and commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences
Effective multitasking and customer management skills
8+ years’ experience in the telecommunications or networking industry
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
Nice to have:
JUNOS skills, with hands-on experience and planning capabilities on MX Series, PTX Series, EX, and ACX Series products
Exposure to NMS/EMS systems, FCAPS, SNMP, CLI, Northbound Interfaces, XML/XSLT
Knowledge of JUNOS-based devices
Industry certifications on Juniper or relevant networking/automation technologies
