Job Description

Meta is seeking an industry expert that develops disruptive strategies to optimize the economics and risk profile for our data center portfolio. Critically, the candidate possesses the business acumen and technical depth to influence infrastructure product strategy and drive industry level change. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end sourcing strategy for infrastructure power from the utility substation to the rack, inclusive of backup power and resiliency schemes. The candidate will partner with R&D Engineering and Product Development teams to drive the supply chain technology roadmap and time to market for leading power technologies. The candidate will also partner with commercial sourcing managers, manufacturing & component quality engineers, and demand/supply managers in an integrated product team to execute on these strategies and deliver best value for Meta.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop domain strategies to yield optimal economic and supply risk outcomes for technology infrastructure
  • Influence internal infrastructure product direction both commercially and technically to yield optimal data-driven results. Provide technical, supplier expertise and consulting to cross-functional partners for technology migration and lower TCO
  • Influence supplier technology roadmaps to ensure Meta’s architectural and technical requirements are met, in conjunction with a cross-functional team. Lead the creation and definition of future technology directions with cross-functional partners
  • Maintain current knowledge of the technology and industry trends for the relevant power technologies and perform competitive analysis on relevant products
  • Drive in-depth technical relationships with external partners at the leadership level, including fostering new relationships for Meta
  • Provide technical review and analysis, and responses to supplier proposals and RFx's. Resolve all technical queries arising from the quote process
  • Own technical expertise in supplier negotiations and provide review/input for product development including statement of work and master supply agreements
  • Develop supplier technical process improvement plans to improve quality, manufacturing scale, cost and time to deployment
  • Partner with other Meta orgs to represent Meta at industry events and forums
  • Ability to travel internationally to data center sites and meet with suppliers and industry partners

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related technical field or equivalent combination of education
  • 12+ years of technical experience in an engineering, product management, or supply chain organizations within data center providers, utilities, power electronics, or associated infrastructure-related industries
  • Experience with local grid optimization, modular & pre-fabricated build solutions, and energy storage and backup power solutions
  • Familiarity with electrical industry regulations and utility standards
  • Proven experience interfacing with and establishing technical relationships with management at suppliers or customers
  • Blend of technical, commercial and operational experience to understand the relationship between technical roadmap, demand/supply, negotiations
  • Knowledge of technology roadmaps and a proven pragmatic approach to influencing product roadmaps
  • Proven experience moving from strategy to execution and delivering results
  • Interpersonal and communication skills with experience influencing, negotiating, building consensus and making strategic decisions

  • Masters or Ph.D. degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering
