This role is part of Aon Impact Forecasting team, a team of scientists, developers and client services colleagues together developing and supporting catastrophe models for various perils including flood, windstorm, earthquake, wildfire or terrorism.
Job Responsibility
Use Impact Forecasting’s catastrophe models to analyze client portfolios and explain key risk drivers
Work with exposure and model output data, spotting and resolving inconsistencies or unexpected results
Use SQL and/or Python to query, validate and process data that feeds our tools and models
Develop and refine internal solutions that improve user experience and streamline data processing workflows
Provide hands‑on guidance on IF’s proprietary catastrophe modelling platform ELEMENTS for internal teams and external clients
Offer software advisory support – from troubleshooting and data preparation to interpreting and presenting results
Collaborate closely with Impact Forecasting teams around the world and maintain communication with stakeholders and clients
Requirements
University degree is desired – for example in informatics, statistics, natural sciences, geography, economics, finance – or other studies combined with the skills outlined below
Ability to work with data using SQL and/or a scripting language (e.g. Python or R)
Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and good overall computing skills
Practical knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel, for analysis and reporting
Clear communication skills in English, both written and spoken — you’ll work with international teams and clients
Confidence to work independently and take ownership of problems, while also collaborating effectively
Willingness to learn, creativity and curiosity about innovation and how models connect to real‑world outcomes
Track record of improving processes, automating tasks or enhancing user experience in analytical tools
Nice to have
Practical knowledge of Geographic Information Systems, such as QGIS, is a plus
Background in catastrophe modelling, insurance or reinsurance is an advantage
