You will have a direct impact on key gameplay, scripted events, and the moment-to-moment player experience. This role sits at the intersection of design and engineering, and you will be responsible for implementing scripted events and building scalable solutions - all crucial to the gameplay experience.
Job Responsibility:
Develop, iterate, and deliver high-quality gameplay assemblies and playable experiences for our AAA co-development partners
Act as a vital interface between our design and engineering teams, helping to develop, iterate, and maintain new features and tools before deployment
Working across any stage of a game’s gestation, from concept and prototype to soft launch and live updates
Embracing MPG’s methodology by advocating for quality and maintaining a deep understanding of the client’s design process
Serving as a technical resource to ensure the provision of tools, documentation, technical support, and the dissemination of best practices
Testing new features as an experienced user, providing feedback, and suggesting improvements to tools, methods, and bug fixes
Prototyping gameplay features and implementing elements that are complex, abstract, or technically challenging, impacting the entire game
For Senior-level: Digesting and solving high-level feedback into actionable work, collaborating directly with production to ensure a release-quality standard
Requirements:
A passion for making and playing a broad range of games
Previous experience in technical design, scripting, or level design on 1+ AAA title OR at least two published titles
Excellent verbal, written, and diagrammatic communication skills, with experience using wiki-based design documentation
A proven ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and communicate effectively using technical language
Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, driven by a curiosity to understand how things work
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with the ability to work autonomously and adaptably
Experience prototyping gameplay mechanics using UE4 or UE5 Blueprints, and experience with a scripting or programming language
Nice to have:
Experience working on a shipped multiplayer game from pre-production through to launch
Experience working in a generalist role across all facets of game design
Experience with meta or monetisation mechanisms for Free-to-Play design
Experience designing games for console and/or PC platforms
Experience in UI/UX design
Experience using UEFN/Verse/Scene Graph
