The Technical Publications Manager leads the development and delivery of high-quality customer and end-user documentation for Owl’s cybersecurity platforms supporting national security, defense, and critical infrastructure environments. This is a high-impact role responsible for transforming and modernizing the Technical Publications function. The manager will drive the evolution of documentation processes, tools, and workflows to improve scalability, efficiency, and content quality. This includes implementing structured content strategies, automation, and AI-assisted documentation capabilities within secure and air-gapped development environments. This role offers the opportunity to define documentation strategy, influence tooling decisions, and elevate how technical content is created and delivered across a growing portfolio of mission-critical cybersecurity products.
Job Responsibility:
Lead modernization of documentation processes, tooling, and workflows across the Technical Publications team
Evaluate and implement modern documentation ecosystems including structured authoring, automation pipelines, and scalable publishing systems
Introduce responsible use of AI-assisted documentation tools to improve drafting, editing, and review efficiency
Reduce manual effort through automation, reusable content architectures, and streamlined workflows
Establish metrics to measure productivity, quality, and documentation effectiveness
Drive long-term strategy for evolving documentation capabilities in secure or air-gapped environments
Lead and mentor a team of technical writers responsible for customer-facing documentation
Establish documentation standards, templates, and style guidelines
Plan and prioritize documentation deliverables aligned with product release schedules
Foster a culture of innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement
Define and execute the documentation strategy for complex IT and cybersecurity platforms
Oversee development and maintenance of: Installation and deployment guides, User and administration manuals, Security configuration and hardening documentation, Operational procedures and troubleshooting guidance
Manage the documentation lifecycle from product development through sustainment releases
Evaluate and maintain documentation tools and authoring platforms
Support documentation workflows operating within secure development environments
Promote efficient documentation production through modern tooling and structured content practices
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
7+ years of experience producing technical documentation for enterprise IT, networking, or cybersecurity systems
2+ years of experience managing or leading technical writers
Experience implementing AI-enabled documentation tools, automation frameworks, or structured authoring systems
Demonstrated experience modernizing documentation processes, workflows, or tool chains
Familiarity with documentation platforms such as Adobe FrameMaker, DITA-based systems, Markdown documentation pipelines, MarkDown, Microsoft SharePoint, and Microsoft Office Suite
Experienced with AI-enabled productivity tools
Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, usable documentation
Candidates must be eligible to obtain/maintain a US Government security clearance
Nice to have:
