We are looking for a Technical Project Manager to guide the early planning and discovery work for a large-scale public website modernization effort in San Francisco, California. This long-term contract position will focus on shaping the future digital platform by aligning technical direction, business needs, and delivery planning in a live production environment. The role will work closely with stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams to define a practical roadmap for modernization and migration.
Job Responsibility
Lead discovery activities to evaluate the current web ecosystem and recommend a modernization path that supports long-term digital goals
Work with business leaders and internal stakeholders to define target-state architecture, platform direction, and an improved online user experience
Translate findings into actionable migration plans, phased roadmaps, timelines, and implementation strategies
Collect and organize functional, technical, accessibility, compliance, and system integration needs to support informed decision-making
Run stakeholder meetings, interviews, and workshops across departments to capture priorities, risks, and dependencies
Support procurement-related efforts by contributing to vendor assessments, proposal reviews, and competitive selection processes
Coordinate communication and planning across multiple external partners and service providers involved in the web environment
Incorporate operational continuity, support needs, and website maintenance considerations into modernization planning for the active production landscape
Requirements
Demonstrated experience managing technical projects involving web platforms, digital transformation, or enterprise website modernization
Strong background in application development project leadership, including planning, documentation, and cross-functional coordination
Knowledge of Sitecore and familiarity with content management platform migration considerations is required
Working understanding of HTML and CSS in support of web delivery, requirements discussions, and platform planning
Ability to gather business and technical requirements and convert them into structured project artifacts and actionable plans
Experience facilitating discussions with leadership, technical teams, and vendors in complex organizational environments
Familiarity with accessibility, compliance, and integration considerations related to public-facing digital services
