Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Technical Project Manager to support a leading organization in the aerospace and defense industry. The TPM will serve as the technical program lead responsible for bridging hardware and software teams, driving complex system integration efforts, and overseeing multiple high‑impact software initiatives. Ideal background for this candidate will be satellite communications and flight systems.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and coordinate software development initiatives across multiple mission‑critical projects to ensure alignment with program objectives and delivery timelines
Serve as the primary technical program manager for the Software Development Group, overseeing planning, resource allocation, schedules, and milestone tracking
Act as the central bridge between hardware and software engineering teams to improve system integration, communication, and operational efficiency
Collaborate with hardware, systems, and software engineering teams to analyze, design, and integrate complex technical systems
Lead and mentor a small team of systems engineers and technical program managers across U.S. and international locations
Participate in design reviews, code reviews, verification and validation activities, and other lifecycle development processes
Contribute to the creation, interpretation, and communication of software requirements, design documentation, test plans, and technical specifications
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (Master’s preferred)
5+ years of software development experience
3+ years in a technical leadership or technical program management role
Demonstrated success managing complex software projects from requirements definition through deployment
Experience working with real‑time operating systems (RTOS) is highly preferred
Background supporting satellite communications, flight systems, or aerospace
Experience creating and maintaining large‑scale technical documentation such as requirements specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), and test plans
Strong communication, interpersonal, and cross‑functional collaboration skills
Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities within a dynamic, fast‑moving environment
