Job Description

As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) at FAIR, you will lead complex, cross-functional programs that accelerate scientific discovery and innovation at Meta. You will partner closely with researchers, engineers, product managers, and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable solutions across different initiatives. Your work will enable cutting-edge research and the development of state-of-the-art AI products and features.

Job Responsibility

  • Drive end-to-end program management for technical initiatives spanning compute infrastructure, data management, and generative AI projects. Ensure alignment and execution across research, engineering, product, infrastructure, and operations teams
  • Collaborate directly with researchers to understand evolving requirements, workflows, and challenges. Co-design solutions that enable advanced experiments, model development, and scientific breakthroughs
  • Guide technical strategy, system architecture, and process improvements for compute systems, data pipelines, and generative model productionization. Identify and mitigate risks, resolve blockers, and ensure program milestones are met
  • Develop and implement best practices for reliability, scalability, data quality, and privacy. Support both technical and operational needs to ensure solutions are effective and adaptable
  • Facilitate regular communication, documentation, and feedback loops with all stakeholders, including leadership and external partners. Provide clear updates and ensure transparency as program needs evolve

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in technical program management, systems engineering, software engineering, or a related technical discipline, with demonstrated ownership of cross-organizational programs at scale
  • 12+ years of experience driving end-to-end delivery of large, complex technical programs spanning multiple organizations, including defining scope, managing dependencies, tracking deliverables, and reporting to executive stakeholders
  • Experience identifying and resolving systemic technical risks and organizational misalignments across company-wide programs, including influencing VP-level and cross-company leadership to drive commitment and strategic alignment
  • Experience establishing program governance structures, portfolio management frameworks, and scalable execution models that operate across multiple organizations and adapt to rapidly changing technical or organizational conditions
  • Experience producing executive-level written communications, technical strategy documents, and program narratives that bring clarity to ambiguous, high-stakes problems and are used as long-term organizational references

Nice to have

  • Experience evaluating model performance online and offline
  • Experience as a subject-matter expert with a track record of contributing to the technical program management community in technical program management, including representing an organization in industry forums, publishing frameworks or methodologies, or influencing external partners and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
  • Familiarity with human data, machine learning datasets, RL environments, and generative model development is a plus
  • Technical background in compute systems, data engineering, machine learning, or related fields is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience redesigning program management workflows using AI tools and agents to drive measurable improvements in delivery quality, speed, or organizational scale
  • Track record of identifying and launching new focus areas or program disciplines within a large technology organization, including setting strategic direction and building the operational foundation from the ground up
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
  • Experience building or scaling a TPM community through mentorship programs, hiring initiatives, onboarding curricula, or cross-functional best-practice development
