Job Description

We’re seeking driven, curious people who bring energy to what they do and see challenges as opportunities to learn and improve. Our team of co-owners values enthusiasm, creativity, and a growth mindset, and we’re committed to putting those qualities to work on solutions that matter. If you’re ready to grow and make an impact, we’d love to be on your team. The Technical Product Specialist (TPS) – Flow Control is responsible for accelerating the growth of Process Automation (PA) solutions by partnering with Account Managers to win opportunities, reduce technical risk, and strengthen sales capability across the organization. This role operates as both a deal accelerator and a sales enablement leader, supporting the continued expansion of AWC’s hybrid FA/PA sales approach. The Technical Product Specialist works closely with customers, sales teams, and manufacturer partners to deliver practical, high-value automation solutions.

Job Responsibility

  • Partner with Account Managers early in the sales cycle to identify, qualify, and develop flow control opportunities
  • Lead technical discovery discussions to understand customer applications, constraints, and risks
  • Support solution development including control valve sizing, selection, and system design
  • Participate in strategic and high-value customer engagements to improve win rates and reduce cycle time
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for flow control technologies including control valves, automated valves, and diagnostics
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose application and installation challenges, providing timely and effective solutions
  • Ensure technical accuracy and feasibility of proposed solutions
  • Coach Account Managers on identifying and positioning PA opportunities within their accounts
  • Conduct joint customer visits, ride-alongs, and hands-on training to build field competency
  • Support the transition from TPS-led to Account Manager-led opportunities over time
  • Develop repeatable sales approaches for common flow control applications
  • Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and training sessions to customers and internal teams
  • Build credibility with engineering, operations, and maintenance stakeholders
  • Reinforce AWC’s value proposition through consistent, high-quality customer interactions
  • Provide structured feedback to engineering teams and manufacturer partners based on field experience
  • Identify gaps in current offerings and contribute to solution development initiatives
  • Support testing and validation of new products and technologies
  • Develop tools, templates, and playbooks for opportunity qualification and solution selection
  • Help standardize best practices across teams to improve consistency and scalability
  • Contribute to improving overall sales process efficiency for flow control opportunities

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of process control, flow control, and industrial applications
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear business value for customers
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with sales teams and cross-functional partners
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills
  • High learning agility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, Engineering Technology, or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience in industrial applications, technical sales, or application engineering (flow control preferred)
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with manufacturer partners
  • Knowledge of control valves and automated valves (Emerson, Flowserve, Masoneilan, Samson, Valmet, etc.)

What we offer

  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
  • 401(K) Match
  • Competitive Pay
  • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance Package
  • Life Insurance
  • Paid Time Off and Holiday Pay

  • 2+ years of technical support experience, preferably at a small, fast-moving SaaS company. You can troubleshoot APIs, MCPs, and automation tools without flinching. Prior work with Zapier, Intercom, or Linear is a bonus. You use AI tools every day, have strong opinions about getting the best from them, and know when to trust them and when not to. You explain the complicated stuff clearly — in writing, on calls, and with enough warmth that customers feel heard even when things aren't working. You spot patterns across support issues and connect them to product improvements without being asked. You're naturally curious. You enjoy getting to the root of why things break, and you follow new tech just because it interests you. You're comfortable working without established playbooks, building them as you go, and don't wait for perfect information before taking ownership. You're dependable. Tickets don't get lost on your watch, follow-ups happen, and you care about doing the job properly.

  • Own technical escalations end to end, taking deep-dive tickets (API and MCP issues, integration failures, multi-system bugs) to resolution
  • Find workarounds and propose paths forward when customers hit feature gaps
  • Work with engineering to drive product improvements, documenting bugs with detailed technical context and spotting patterns across tickets
  • Keep the Help Center alive, writing new content, updating what's stale, and building guides that cut down repeat questions
  • Build and maintain deep expertise in Slite and Super's product, APIs, and integrations, staying ahead of every new release so customers always get a confident answer.
