Museum of Illusions is seeking a Technical Procurement Specialist to support both, our Procurement and R&D teams. As a Technical Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of goods while maintaining quality and compliance. Due to the technical nature of our projects, we are seeking a candidate with hands-on experience in technical procurement and a strong understanding of procurement processes in an environment involving prototyping, mechanical components, electronics, production materials, and specialized manufacturing services. This role requires a technical background and the ability to understand technical specifications, materials, and production workflows.
Job Responsibility:
Manage end-to-end technical procurement of equipment, materials, components, and services required for exhibit development and prototype production
Conduct supplier research, identify optimal technical solutions, materials, and vendors
Prepare RFQs, gather and evaluate quotations, and assess technical and financial feasibility
Monitor and optimize inventory levels for R&D materials, components, and consumables
Create purchase orders, coordinate deliveries, and oversee incoming goods distribution
Coordinate logistics between external suppliers, production partners, and internal locations (prototype lab, workshops, project teams)
Handle administrative processing of invoices and ensure alignment with purchase orders
Prepare reports and track R&D department budgets
support procurement planning
Work closely with R&D engineers and designers to understand technical requirements and support efficient project execution
Contribute to the improvement of internal procurement processes and warehouse operations
Requirements:
High school diploma, associate degree, or university degree in a technical, or economics field (engineering background preferred)
Previous experience in technical procurement is required, ideally in an R&D, prototyping, manufacturing, mechanical engineering, electronics, or similar technical environment
Strong understanding of technical specifications, materials, components, and basic manufacturing processes
Excellent computer skills (MS Office, especially Excel)
Experience working with ERP systems is an advantage
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment
Valid category B driving license
