An opportunity to join a major green industrial development in Sweden, supporting one of Europe’s most ambitious decarbonisation programmes. The project is focused on delivering a fully integrated, low?carbon manufacturing facility, powered by renewable electricity and large?scale green hydrogen, with the objective of achieving near?zero CO? emissions. Currently in the construction phase, this development will serve as a landmark for the energy transition of heavy industry, combining digitalisation, sustainability, and world?class engineering standards. As a Technical Process Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, compliant design and operation of complex industrial assets. You will provide technical expertise to ensure facilities are designed with a strong focus on safety, minimising risks to employees, contractors, and surrounding communities. The role involves close collaboration with engineering consultants, contractors, equipment vendors, and regulatory bodies, contributing to the development and application of safety standards aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practice. You will report to the Technical Process Safety Lead within the Central Engineering function. The position is based at the Stockholm HQ, with travel to the project site as required.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supporting Design Safety: Contribute to ensuring safety is embedded into facility design by reviewing and validating safety aspects in collaboration with engineering contractors and equipment vendors
  • Applying Safety Standards: Support the development, interpretation, and implementation of safety standards in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Ensure consistent application across the project
  • Regulatory Requirements Analysis: Work with regulatory authorities and third?party specialists to identify, interpret, and stay up to date with relevant regulations and assess their impact on the project
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage closely with engineering teams, contractors, vendors, and regulators to align on safety requirements and support clear communication and resolution of compliance matters
  • Supporting Compliance Activities: Participate in inspections, audits, reviews, and monitoring activities to support compliance with safety standards and regulatory obligations

Requirements:

  • MSc in Engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred or related discipline)
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience on large?scale industrial projects (>$50m), with at least 5 years in a technical process safety role
  • Experience in industries such as steel, mining, utilities, LNG, hydrogen, oil & gas, petrochemicals, or refining
  • Strong hands?on experience with: HAZID / HAZOP
  • LOPA / SIL / Functional Safety
  • QRA and risk assessments
  • ATEX and hazardous area classification
  • Fire safety and effects management
  • Additional experience in areas such as: Noise studies
  • Consequence analysis
  • Human factors / interface assessment
  • Machine safety
  • Experience with hydrogen systems, LNG, or metals industry projects is a strong advantage
  • Solid knowledge of Swedish, European, EU, and international industrial safety regulations
  • Experience supporting permitting and consent?to?operate processes for major industrial facilities
