You will lead through technical insight and strategic clarity—owning the delivery of critical initiatives, influencing design decisions, and ensuring engineering investments are aligned with long-term platform goals. A successful candidate for the Technical Program Principal Manager role is data-driven and someone who thrives on Microsoft's leadership principles; provides clarity, generates excitement, and makes things happen. Job Responsibility:

  • Provide technical leadership across Azure Compute by identifying architectural gaps, scaling challenges, and opportunities for innovation
  • Drive the design and delivery of platform-wide initiatives that improve system reliability, performance, and operational efficiency
  • Partner with engineering and product leaders to align technical strategy with customer and business priorities
  • Take a structural approach in solving complex problems
  • Communicate to decision makers in a clear and compelling way
  • Stellar cross group collaboration, able to drive decisive action in partnership with others in a large and diverse organization and deliver results that depend on the broader Microsoft organization
  • Define targets for business Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and track and report progress on them
  • Help lead and champion a team culture that embraces diversity

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience
  • 1+ years people management experience
  • 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
  • 4+ years of software industry experience working as a technical program manager, product manager or developer
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role
  • These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

Nice to have:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience
  • 4+ years people management experience
  • 8+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
  • 1+ years of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos)
  • 7+ years of technical program or product management experience in a cloud environment
  • 3+ year(s) of hands on experience with data analytic tools (such as Power BI, SQL)
