We’re looking for a highly skilled and versatile Technical Operations Engineer to join our team and support our Space Systems product line. This role is perfect for someone with a general contractor or building engineer background who is experienced in building infrastructure work. You’ll be the go-to person for the hardware aspects of our system, working directly with customers in the field and remotely to ensure seamless integration and operation within government buildings.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide end-to-end support for our Space Systems hardware, including setup and configuration
  • Pre-configure systems and ensure seamless integration with customer infrastructure
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues in real-time, applying analytical thinking and hands-on problem-solving skills
  • Follow command-line instructions to perform necessary hardware configurations
  • Configure and troubleshoot networking environments, including Cisco switch/router configurations, VLANs, and routing
  • Install, configure, and rack servers, switches, and related equipment
  • Run and terminate Ethernet and fiber optic cabling to industry standards
  • Test and certify all cabling installations
  • Coordinate installation of electrical power systems to support Space Systems hardware
  • Ensure UPS systems, PDUs, and grounding are installed correctly
  • Work with electricians to align with load requirements and safety standards
  • Ensure all installations meet local, state, and federal building/electrical codes
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents
  • Conduct site surveys to plan infrastructure layouts
  • Act as the point of contact with subcontractors (electricians, low-voltage installers, general contractors)
  • Schedule and oversee subcontractor work to ensure quality and timelines are met
  • Provide documentation, as-built drawings, and project reports
  • Follow OSHA safety requirements for construction and electrical environments
  • Maintain compliance with TIA/EIA, BICSI, and NEC standards.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of electrical systems, both low-voltage and high-voltage
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently in the field and collaborate with customers and team members
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75%
  • Proficient in working with hands and tools to assemble, repair, and maintain technical hardware in the field
  • Strong understanding of building codes and regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee projects from start to finish
  • Proven experience in server installation, cable routing (fiber and Ethernet), and electrical coordination
  • Hands-on experience with rack installation, patch panels, and cable management systems
  • Excellent communication skills for working with subcontractors and internal stakeholders
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS/SCI security clearance
  • Ability to meet health and medical requirements in advance of deployments in accordance with DFARS 252.225-7040, DoDI 3020.41, and/or any additional requirements outlined by region or supporting force, as applicable.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Linux system administration, comfortable following command-line instructions
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting networking environments, including Cisco switch/router configurations, VLANs, and routing
  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical experience
  • Military background and active security clearance
  • Certifications (preferred but not required): BICSI, CompTIA Server+, OSHA 30, low-voltage contractor license.

  • Documentation includes current and future communications systems capturing all physical topologies and architecture within either or both the Phoenix Database and Cyberspace Infrastructure Planning System (CIPS) Visualization Component (CVC). The Phoenix Database is a Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) product. The Phoenix Database and CVC tool are repositories of Communications and Information System and Installation Records (CSIRs) used as a communications planning tool. Engineers will be required to obtain access to both systems via Phoenix request Memorandum and Department of Defense DoD Form 2875, System Authorization Access Request (SAAR) that will be provided by the Government
