Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Technical Officer to join the STEM College at a leading University, based at our Bundoora East campus. This role is pivotal to the operation of our Materials and Structural Engineering laboratories, supporting a range of teaching, research, and industry-focused projects.

Job Responsibility

  • Coordinate the day-to-day running of Heavy Structures and Materials labs, ensuring they are ready for teaching and research activities
  • Assist with specimen preparation (concrete, asphalt, cementitious materials), testing, curing, and storage
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
  • develop preventative maintenance programs
  • Ensure all lab activities adhere to strict safety protocols, including the development of risk assessments and safe work instructions
  • Deliver inductions and technical guidance to students, staff, and researchers on the safe use of equipment
  • Manage lab consumables and inventory, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for lab infrastructure

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Materials Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in a construction materials, structural, or civil engineering laboratory environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of testing methodologies and laboratory equipment maintenance
  • Proven ability to manage safety/compliance and develop operational procedures
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to support diverse stakeholders including academic staff and students

  • The System Administrator III will work internal to the Cell Manipulation Core Facility to manage systems across the Cell Therapy (CT) Networks by implementation and validation of computer systems impacting the department and CT program. The System Administrator III works in conjunction with the project teams from Partners Healthcare System and CMCF technical staff as well as working with DFCI and Partners IS on enterprise systems such as Epic and Sunquest. Systems will include, but are not limited to Partners Order Entry System for Biological Products (BOE/BPAA), Eceptionist, Sunquest, REES Environmental Monitoring systems, Internal Server systems, CMCF FileMaker Databases, FreezerWorks Bio-Repository system selected MES, and other internal systems such as Microsoft Access and Filemaker databases
