Job Description

The Technical Manager will drive operational contributions throughout the bid lifecycle including both pre-construction and site administration services for all client opportunities. The Technical Manager will work closely with the Project Directors and Operation Managers to understand their associated operational strategies, as well as with the Project Support Manager to aid the development of a complimentary, high performing pre-construction and site administration function. The Technical Manager will have proven experience of delivering Hyperscale Data Centre projects with extensive knowledge of the associated operations processes and procedures, as well as common major milestones.

Job Responsibility

  • Supporting the Sales team with PQQs and Operational assistance where required
  • Provide operational support and experience into the Pre-Sales teams to improve proposals and mitigate potential operational issues post award
  • Build, or assist in building, project schedules at tender stage
  • Thoroughly examine project issued specifications and drawings – during bid stage to highlight potential RFIs and post award to ensure project documents are accurate
  • Support the commercial teams with technical reviews of contracts
  • Post award, provide pre-construction services to build a professional and seamless transition process
  • Help build and maintain installation and test result trackers
  • Advise PD/OM/PM regarding specific project testing requirements
  • Ensure engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures take place
  • Review and monitor project risks and issues to provide accurate assessments to PD and clients
  • Develop, implement, and maintain sound business practices
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and assistance in all aspects of the project lifecycle
  • Grows long-term relationships with clients
  • Effectively communicates relevant information to superiors
  • Take responsibility for various special projects from time to time
  • Evaluate and redesign project offerings, where beneficial

Requirements

  • Extensive experience delivering Telecommunications Infrastructure Cabling, ICT, or Security deployments in a management role
  • Proven experience delivering Hyperscale Data Centre projects
  • Strong project management expertise within IT and technical delivery environments
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-site design and delivery activities
  • Strong understanding of technical documentation (specifications, drawings, schematics)
  • Experience delivering services under formal sub-contracts
  • Proven ability to develop, review, and enhance project delivery documentation
  • Confident communicator with strong client presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience leading or supporting pre-sales activities
  • Ability to absorb, manage, and deliver new services and applications
  • Strong capability to organise and lead multi-skilled project teams
  • Solid understanding of project contracts, scope, and deliverables
  • Working knowledge of PRINCE2 or equivalent project management methodologies
  • Qualifications: CTPM, ECS, CDCDP, RCDD
  • Experience delivering Electronic Security projects
  • Experience in Enterprise Networking deployments (WAN, LAN, WLAN, Servers, Desktop)
  • Experience producing financial and operational reports for senior management
  • Additional certifications beneficial: PRINCE2, BICSI, ITIL Foundation, MSP
