Broster Buchanan are partnered with a leading media distribution company who are looking for a Technical Lead to join their growing IT team, acting as a hands on technical leader as they are transitioning from a legacy .NET stack to a modern .NET Azure DevSecOps model. The role won't have line management responsibilities, but will lead a team of engineers. On offer is a salary of up to £95k with a strong benefits package (as listed below), with a hybrid work schedule with 2 days onsite in the client's Peterborough office.
Job Responsibility:
Provide senior technical leadership across a live, commercially critical estate that blends legacy systems with modern Azure based platforms
Define and lead the next phase of the engineering operating model, setting clear standards for architecture, quality, security and resilience while enabling teams to innovate at pace
Own the engineering lifecycle end to end, shape platform direction, embed DevSecOps discipline, and establish what 'production ready' means in practice – ensuring systems are stable, observable, secure and resilient once live
Sit at the intersection of experimentation and operational discipline. Review and drive new innovations, ensuring they are engineered for reliability, recoverability and scale. Remove the divide between build and run, strengthening automation, observability and disaster recovery across the platform
Lead the evolution of service operations, working with teams to ensure incidents and operational feedback are used to improve engineering quality and platform resilience rather than create ongoing interruption. Provide architectural depth, operational credibility and the confidence to set and enforce standards in a complex, business critical environment
Raise the bar on code quality and governance, ensuring standards are clear, measurable, and consistently applied. You will improve release confidence and reduce incident frequency through structural improvements – not temporary fixes
Increase automation across infrastructure and deployment, reducing manual fragility and operational risk
Shape engineering structure and capability, influence hiring and development, and partner closely with Product, Data, and Infrastructure leaders to ensure alignment between technical direction and commercial priorities
Requirements:
Previous hands-on technical leadership experience in a .NET-based engineering environment. Must have strong experience designing, building, and evolving systems using modern .NET technologies, with a solid understanding of application architecture, integration, and cloud-hosted platforms
Comfortable engaging deeply in technical work when required, guiding engineering decisions, reviewing complex code or designs, and supporting teams through technically challenging delivery
Experience leading engineering teams while remaining technically active is essential, particularly in environments where systems are evolving and innovation is expected
Possess a sound engineering judgement, curiosity, and the ability to balance delivery pressure with long-term technical health
Previous experience successfully leading platform or engineering transformation within complex, operationally critical environments
Experience embedding DevSecOps and automation at scale, owning production environments with tangible commercial impact, and improving reliability through structural change rather than short-term mitigation
Previous experience modernising service operations to align more closely with engineering accountability
