The Technical Drafter plays a key role in the R&D team at the Museum of Illusions, translating creative concepts and engineering solutions into robust, production-ready technical designs and documentation. This role bridges R&D, prototyping, and production by ensuring that exhibits are technically sound, clearly documented, and ready for manufacturing and installation.
Job Responsibility:
Develop comprehensive technical documentation for R&D projects, including: Technical and functional specifications
Detailed workshop and production drawings
3D models and assemblies
Manufacturing, assembly, and installation instructions
Construction and site-preparation guidelines
Create, modify, and optimize 3D models and assemblies using Autodesk Fusion
Produce accurate workshop drawings, part lists, and assembly documentation suitable for internal production and external manufacturing partners
Maintain structured, version-controlled technical documentation throughout the R&D lifecycle (concept, prototype, validation, and production handover)
Document design changes, iterations, and improvements arising from prototyping and testing
Ensure technical consistency, feasibility, and adherence to internal design and documentation standards
Collaborate closely with R&D, production, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure clarity, accuracy, and usability of technical outputs
Requirements:
Technical secondary education (technical high school) or higher
engineering background preferred
Strong experience in technical drafting, CAD design, and technical documentation
Proficiency in CAD tools such as: Autodesk Fusion
Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, CATIA, or AutoCAD
Solid understanding of technical drafting standards, manufacturing drawings, and assemblies
High level of precision, organization, and attention to detail
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently within cross-functional R&D teams
Nice to have:
Experience working in an R&D, product development, or prototyping environment
Experience preparing documentation for physical products, installations, or exhibit-based solutions
Experience with Adobe InDesign for professional layout and formatting of technical manuals and documentation
